NYC Ferry opening to Coney Island postponed

Neighbors of Coney Island will have to wait a little longer to receive NYC Ferry services due to an environmental delay.

The city’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC) reported that it cannot resume construction of the pier until July 1, the date on which the state moratorium protecting winter flounder fish and horseshoe crabs is lifted. .

EDC expects to launch the service in Coney Island later this year, in partnership with regulators to ensure the work is done safely.

This new route will connect the Coney Island and Bay Ridge neighborhoods to Wall Street.
