John of Dunois Conference

Jean de Dunois Conference at the Maison du Saumon by Véronique Domagalski. Saturday November 18, 2023 at 3 p.m. – single price €10.

It was commonly called the bastard of Orléans. Illegitimate son of King Charles VI’s brother, Louis of Orléans, Jean is known to have been “companion in arms of Joan of Arc”. He was much more than that… Raised at court with his half-brothers, he put his sword in the service of his family and the king. Courageous, cultured and intelligent, he became one of the great men of the 15th century and managed to rise among the great princes of his time.

This conference will allow you to discover a real local hero of the 100 years war.

History of stained glass art

The cathedral retains the largest number of old stained glass windows, including: 176 period glass roofs. The bays of the western facade and that of the “Belle Verrière” constitute pure masterpieces of Romanesque stained glass art. Almost all the others were installed between 1200 and 1235. They constitute the richest collection in Europe in terms of their age and beauty.
