No Southampton, but PSV: “Not that the club from England did not interest me”

Ibrahim Sangaré made 2020 the well-considered choice to move from Toulouse to PSV to leave. He declined an offer from Premier League club Southampton. The Ivorian feels at home in Eindhoven.

“I chose PSV because I thought it was interesting what they were planning to sport. Not that a club from England did not interest me in that area. But I looked closely and saw that PSV was really interested in me,” says Sangaré in conversation with the US. He takes the cold in the Netherlands for granted. “It’s just part of it. It’s difficult to play in the cold, but you’re a professional and you adapt. And in England the weather is not better, you know.”

In Eindhoven, Sangaré spends a lot of time on one of his favorite hobbies. “I like to sleep and a lot. After training, in my spare time, I go to bed as often as possible. It is important to be able to recover well,” says the midfielder. “I feel good and I’m really at ease at PSV. Maybe I’m making so much progress because I have so much peace in my head.”
