Nicklas Bendtner’s confession: Many Juventus players smoke in the toilet

KOMPAS.com – A shocking confession was made by the former national team striker Denmark who once played for Juventus, Nicklas Bendtner.

Bendtner moved to Juventus in the summer of 2012 on loan from Arsenal.

When he first came to Juventus, the Copenhagen-born player was immediately shocked.

According to Bendtner’s confession, he saw many Juventus players smoking in the toilet.

“At that time I was in the bathroom, but I could not find other players and it was a bit strange. It was my first day. Of course I rushed to the coffee shop,” said Bendtner to BBC Radio 5 as quoted from Football Italia, Monday (16/11/2020).

“Then I found 10 or 12 of them in the toilet, chatting, enjoying each other’s company and smoking,” said Bendtner.

“It was an incredible sight and made me feel like this was something I would enjoy,” he said.

At that time, Juventus star players like Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo did not cover up their smoking habit.

However, this has no effect on their appearance on the field.

“What can you say about these players? If you look at their careers and how professional they are, it really opened my eyes about them,” said Bendtner.

“Because the professionalism they show on the pitch and the friendships are at different levels, nobody thinks about it,” he said.

Nicklas Bendtner only played at Juventus for one season, namely in 2012-2013. He appeared in 11 matches across competitions without ever scoring a goal.

However, Bendtner’s name was still listed as a member of the Juventus squad that won scudetto A league 2012-2013.

After Juventus, Bendtner then moved clubs from VfL Wolfsburg, Nottingham Forest, Rosenborg, to FC Copenhagen.

Currently Bendtner plays for Tarnby FF which competes in the fourth level of the Danish League.
