New York Organizations Condemn Supreme Court Decision on Abortion | Univision 41 New York WXTV

The decision of the Supreme Court of cancel the historic sentence Roe v. wadewhich legalized abortion was condemned today by various New York OrganizationsDistrict Attorneys and health institutions in the region.

Health + Hospitals CEO Mitchell Katz he called the decision a setback that will affect the community.

“The decision of the Supreme Court of the United States that restricts the reproductive rights of millions of Americans is a setback and a threat to public health.

“Soon we will witness the enormous negative consequences that it will have on disadvantaged communities … and people who are currently having problems accessing health,” he said in a statement.

He added that Health + Hospitals will continue to provide access to safe and legal abortion to anyone who requests it.

An unwise decision, says Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz

Separately, the Queens district attorney, Melinda Katz called the move frustrating and reckless.

“The Supreme Court has decided to put the lives of millions of women across the nation at risk. The decision is frustrating as well as reckless…dozens of states are likely to immediately ban access to safe and legal abortion.”

“I take comfort in the fact that New York State has been and will continue to be a safe haven for women in need of essential reproductive services.”
