New toilet: Vincent-van-Gogh-Straße / Welsestraße – Berlin.de

The toilet infrastructure of the Lichtenberg district has another location: On Monday June 21st, a Berlin toilet was handed over for use in Vincent-van-Gogh-Strasse / Welsestrasse. It is a new construction, with which a free-standing, fully automatic toilet facility was built in this part of Lichtenberg for the first time. The background is the modernization of the toilet infrastructure by Wall GmbH and the Lichtenberg district. The Berlin toilet is a one-cabin system with an integrated changing table.

The district councilor responsible for public order, the environment and traffic, Martin Schaefer (CDU), says: “With the new toilet location, we are closing another supply gap in Hohenschönhausen in the area of public toilet facilities. Here, too, the technical collaboration with Wall and the Roads and Green Spaces Department went extremely well. ”

Harriet Vahldieck, Regionalmanagerin Wall GmbH: “Again we can hand over a Berlin toilet in the Lichtenberg district ready for operation. We are thus on schedule across Berlin and will complete the modernization of the toilet infrastructure on time. In the past Corona period in particular, our employees at the Velten production plant have achieved great things. Despite the necessary protective measures, they produced the Berlin toilets in series so that they can be set up on the road in good time. ”

By mid-May, a total of 200 Berlin toilets had left the Wall GmbH plant to find a new location in Berlin. A total of 22 of these will supplement the supply of public toilets in the Lichtenberg district.

Background information on the Berlin toilet: The toilet in the new Berlin design is completely barrier-free and is one of the first in Germany to meet the new requirements FROM-Regulation for accessibility (FROM 18040-1: 2010-10) and is certified. The euro key system guarantees free access for people with physical disabilities and their assistants. The city toilet is easy to maintain, energy-saving, resistant to vandalism and, in addition to inserting coins, also offers a digital payment option via smartphone app.
