– A number of items were seized as part of the operation. These will be considered in the coming days and weeks, says the public prosecutor in Braunschweig, writes Sky News.
In 2020, Christian Brückner (46) was suspected of being behind Madeleine McCann’s disappearance and presumed death in 2007. German police have made several investigative moves in the case, of which the recent search is one of them.
Brückner is said to have been in the area where the police searched only days after the disappearance of the three-year-old.
Shipped to Germany
The Attorney General says it is too early to say whether the items are related to the McCann case. They will be sent to Germany for testing.
A search was made in a reservoir located approximately 31 miles from where the British three-year-old disappeared in Praia da Luz in the Algarve region of Portugal 16 years ago, writes Sky News.
The search lasted three days. Among other things, searches were carried out by divers.

Continuing the investigation
The public prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig informs Sky News that they are continuing the investigation of Brückner.
– The investigation into the suspect is expected to continue for some time, says the state attorney.
Brückner is currently in prison for raping a 72-year-old woman in the same area of the Algarve region where Madeleine went missing, but has not been charged with any crime related to her disappearance.
German authorities have previously stated that they are “absolutely certain” that Brückner is the man who abducted and killed McCann, but Brückner has never been charged in connection with the case.
He denies having been involved in the McCann affair.
He is a suspect because it is claimed his car was spotted in the area where McCann disappeared. According to Brückner, he lived in Portugal from 1995 to 2007 Independent.
