Netzwelt: online circus and virtual adrenaline rushes

Small escapes from everyday corona are almost only possible virtually. But the pandemic has also unearthed creative ways of diversion. One comes from Dornholzhausen.

Do you also have the ceiling falling on your head? Does the constant work at home, crouching at home and staying at home with you make for a full-blown corona blues? Welcome to the club – you are not alone.

Personally, I do not question that it makes sense to keep your distance, avoid unnecessary contact, wear a mask, and, and, and. But even the most ardent supporters of the AHA (distance – hygiene – everyday life with a mask) rules are missing something at some point. Nothing against video calls, which after all, loved ones bring me home digitally. Or the everyday stroll on which my steps have left their own little beaten path. But I miss the variety. And above all the opportunity to do something spontaneously.

I currently find small escapes from the Corona monotony mainly online. The pandemic has unearthed creative ways of diversion.

An idea to escape the stress of everyday life and at the same time to please my inner child comes from Dornholzhausen: visiting a virtual circus performance with magicians, clowns, aerial acrobats and co .. Under www.circus-for-kids.de (The corresponding online tickets are also available here) the “Home Circus” comes from the fairground of the Langgöns community directly into your living room. Because this is where the Circus Rondel, who launched the project together with Circus Jonny Casselly, has set up its quarters.

The premiere will be celebrated on April 5th at 4 p.m. The second screening will also take place on April 11th at 4pm and the third will be broadcast on April 17th from 6pm. A professional film team recorded the performances of the artists in advance. In between, the artists let us viewers take a look behind the scenes. “In the clips we show what we did during the Corona period to master it,” says Rebecca Ortmann, whose husband Rene is the director of Circus Rondel. He will be in the ring himself with his “old comrades”, who some may still know from the TV show “Das Supertalent”.

If after all the acrobatics I’m in the mood for more adrenaline rushes, I’ll have to make do with an amusement park junkie with a virtual solution. Even if it is of course not essential to scream your lungs out in a ride, I miss it. I get at least a feeling of it on the Disneyland Paris Facebook account. There are “On Ride” videos of all roller coasters that take me on a wild ride. If you want to try it, the ride-sharing videos can also be accessed without your own Facebook account – at https://bit.ly/3cjIeEt

And a visit to the website helps against my growing wanderlust Drive & Listen. Here I can explore foreign travel destinations all over the world from the comfort of my own home. All I have to do is choose the city that I’ve always wanted to visit – and I’m already on the streets of San Francisco or Tel Aviv. Even Singapore is just a click away. During every trip I get to hear a local radio station. It almost feels like I’m cruising through town in my car. After a little escape from everyday life.
