Netflix wants to make a documentary about Krejčíř. She secretly sent him a contract which he signed

Another interesting chapter can appear in the rich biography of convicted criminal Radovan Krejčíř, who is serving a long prison sentence in the Republic of South Africa. And again, he could be cinematic. After Czech processing, well-known streaming service Netflix will capture Krejčír in a documentary. According to the media, he has already taken his first steps. His representative was supposed to meet directly with Krejčíř.

South African prosecutor Steven Rubin has announced that a person from the Netflix production team met convict Radovan Krejčír directly in the maximum security unit of Pretoria’s central prison. He arrived there under the false pretext of a private visit. According to the prosecutor, his lawyer Nastasja Otrebski brought the production contract to prison, which he entered into documents containing changes to Krejčíř’s treatment. According to Rubin, Krejčíř signed the contract.

This information from the News 365 portal shows that the American streaming service Netflix really intends to make a documentary about Krejčíř. The information came to light after attorney Otrebski gave her as a witness in court in the town of Kempton Park. It concerns the allegation that Krejčíř tried to escape from prison in 2016.

Otrebski argued that he didn’t have to tell prison staff about the Netflix contract because they had read all the documents he brought. He added that Krejčíř wants to collaborate with the Netflix production, but the prison has forbidden further visits by his representatives.

Krejčíř has been in prison abroad since 2013

Krejčíř, whom Czech authorities began pursuing at the turn of the millennium over economic crimes, fled the Czech Republic in 2005 ahead of a police investigation. He has lived in South Africa since 2007 and has been behind bars since November 2013. In addition to being convicted of kidnapping and attempted murder, he is also accused of numerous escape attempts and conspiracy to murder a police officer and a legal adviser.

In 2018, the Prague High Court upheld Krejčíř’s summary sentence to 15 years in prison for attempting to override the state-owned enterprise Čepro and for a number of other acts. The Czech Republic has been asking for his release since 2007.

Czech director Jan Pachl made the films Gangster Ka and Gangster Ka: Afričan, both 2015, about Krejčíř. They are inspired by the books of journalist Jaroslav Kmenta Godfather Krejčíř – Gangster and Godfather Krejčíř – Afričan. The controversial entrepreneur was played by Hynek Čermák. Kmenta participated in the scripts.
