Netflix offers “studio quality” audio on Android smartphones … but not iOS!

Netflix has decided to please one category of its users at the expense of others … Indeed, the streaming service exclusively offers Android users access to xHE-AAC quality (studio quality). For iPhone users, we will have to be a little patient since obviously the novelty does not seem to have arrived in the beta phase yet.

Launch of studio audio quality

In a constant quest for improvement of its services and content, Netflix has decided to (gradually) launch studio quality for several of its films and series. From now on, users with at least Android 9 Pie can enjoy audio in xHE-AAC (Extended HE-ACC avec MPEG-D DRC).
With this new audio format, the quality of your programs will become spectacular to bring you a immersion extraordinary. To fully experience this new experience, it is obviously advisable to use a headset (or headphones).

An important detail will be required to access this new audio quality, it is that you will need a connection cellular or Wi-Fi stable and with a correct downflow (no minimum has been communicated). Netflix has also introduced with the new version of its app, better audio level control. The app now goes to handle better the brutal volume variations that we regularly encounter in action or science fiction films!

One thing is certain is that Apple users are not left behind since they will soon be able to get the Spatial Audio with at least an iPhone 7, iPad Air 3, iPad 6, iPad mini 5, or iPad Pro. You will need AirPods Pro or AirPods Max to read the contents in Spatial Audio.
The availability of studio quality is still unknown on iOS. Netflix could soon make an announcement on this subject, since we do not see why the streaming service would deprive iOS users of such a novelty.
