NEOS on the press hour: A vote for the ÖVP is a vote for black and blue

Hoyos: “Anyone who measures the ÖVP by their deeds will see that they no longer shy away from anything.”

Vienna (OTS) “After this appearance by the Minister of the Interior, even the last doubter must be clear: Lower Austria is only the beginning. The right-wing populist and corrupt black-blue coalition is also threatening in Salzburg and in the federal government,” says NEOS Secretary General Douglas Hoyos after today’s ORFPress conference. “An ÖVP that simply wants to change fundamental rights or preferably abolish them because they are incompatible with their blunt anti-foreigner policy and expresses ‘respect’ for Johanna Mikl-Leitner’s reactionary and unconstitutional government program becomes simple find no other government partner apart from the FPÖ. And she clearly doesn’t want that either.”

Anyone who measures the ÖVP by their actions can see “that they no longer shy away from anything,” says Hoyos: “In Lower Austria it has been shown more than clearly that the People’s Party, as we once knew it, has long since ceased to exist. And that the current squad around ÖVP boss and Chancellor Nehammer – whether turquoise or black – wants to stay in power at all costs and is ready to do everything for it. A progressive, pro-European majority as an alternative to a right-wing populist government with the FPÖ will therefore only exist with us NEOS, both in Salzburg and in the federal government.”
