NBA – Al Horford donates US $ 500,000 to fight with viruses

There is a lot of debate about Al Horford, the basketball player. But there is no debate about Al Horford the person. He’s a solid guy everywhere.

Most Celtics fans loved Horford for his calm demeanor on the floor and his glue-like impact in the locker room. He is not the most striking or dominant player on the court, which has usually drawn criticism for his maximum contract, but Horford has always been an accomplished professional in his three seasons in Boston.

Even when he chose to exit the final year of their deal and crossed enemy lines to sign with the Philadelphia Sixers, fans weren’t too upset with Al. Most were saddened more because he would no longer be wearing the Celtics’ green. (It certainly helped that choosing not to allow the Celtics to sign Kemba Walker last summer, and Al didn’t play too well for the struggling Sixers during the 2019-20 season.)

Horford once again shows the world his character quality by donating $ 500,000 for coronavirus relief, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. That donation will benefit not only his home country, the Dominican Republic, but also every place Horford has played throughout his career, including Boston.

Horford played high school in Michigan before beginning an incredible college career in Florida, helping the Gators win consecutive national championships in 2006 and 2007. He was selected at number three in the overall draw for Atlanta in 2007, and after Making four All-Star appearances in his nine-year stint with the Hawks, he spent three seasons in Boston before flying to Philadelphia.

Now he is giving back to all those communities at the time when help is most needed.

The NBA, like all professional sports leagues in the United States, has stopped all its activities as a result of the worldwide pandemic caused by Covid-19.

The Sixers, 39-26, ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference. For life in the NBA, Horford is averaging 14 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists, with 52 percent shooting from the field.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Zion Willliamson, Kevin Love, among others, have contributed to help the employees of their respective teams.
