SANTO DOMINGO.-The General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE), through its dependency, the Dominican Cinematheque, in coordination with Caribbean Cinemas, announced the realization of the sixth edition of the National Film Festival, to be held from 14 to 20 this month December at 360 Gallery.
This year the program is focused on the winning works of the annual public contest of the Fund for Cinematographic Promotion (FONPROCINE), with the aim of taking a tour of the fruits of the support offered to local producers and the industry in general, highlighting pieces that Dominicanity, its roots and customs stand out. We are delighted to be able to highlight and re-enjoy these 11 winning projects of the annual FONPROCINE public competition, by the hand of Caribbean Cinemas. #VoyPalCine ”, expressed Yvette Marichal¨.
The opening ceremony took place yesterday, at 4:00 pm, at the Caribbean Cinemas facilities, with the screening of the film “Reinbou”, directed by David Maler and Andrés Curbelo.
In this sixth edition the public also enjoyed the feature films: “Dollars of sand” (2014), “From fish to time” (2014), “Allen report” (2016) “Sambá” (2017), “The man who cares ”(2017) and“ Cocote ”(2017), films that have traveled the world, representing the country in Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, United States, Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Portugal , Switzerland and Turkey, to name a few.
The samples were carried out in accordance with the hygiene procedures and established protocol measures, due to Covid-19. in a safe way.
