NASA designing two missions astronaut to be sent to Mars. The plan will then be tested on the Moon, NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy revealed.
There are 50 objectives to be achieved from the mission. NASA have also prepared an outline of how they will achieve all these goals. The plan, this mission will last for 30 days on the surface of the Planet Mars.
Later, there will be a cargo weighing 25 tons sent in advance to ensure the astronauts have provisions when they land. Equally important, was the pre-landing vehicle so NASA was confident the astronauts could return to Earth safely.
“We want to get the rhythm (right — ed) to carry out our mission every year,” said associate administrator Jim Free.
“So we can maximize knowledge, maximize the utilization of our system,” he continued.
The 30 day mission may seem short. However, this is not necessarily without calculation. Due to the nature of the orbits of Terran and Mars, if the astronauts stay longer, the return journey will be longer and more difficult. Except, astronaut stay for more than 500 days until the planets align again.
While advances in technology have been enormous for removing barriers to space missions, there are still many difficulties in sending astronauts farther than humans have ever traveled.
