NASA Finds 301 New Planets, Total There Are 4,569 Exoplanets

The first exoplanet discoveries were made in the mid-1990s.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WASHINGTON — American Space Agency (NASA) scientists have discovered 301 eksoplanet other, planets that are outside the solar system. This new discovery brings the total validated exoplanets to 4,569 since the first discovery in the mid-1990s.

NASA said Monday that the discovery could be linked to a new network called ExoMiner, which leverages NASA’s supercomputer, the Pleiades, and can distinguish real exoplanets from various types of “false positives”.

Reported from UPI, Tuesday (11/23), deep neural networks or deep neural network is a machine learning method that automatically learns a task when given enough data.

ExoMiner complements and can comb through data and distinguish between planets and non-planets. In particular, ExoMiner studied the data collected by the Kepler . spacecraft NASA and K2, the follow-up mission. NASA has archives online which contains details of exoplanet discoveries.

Meanwhile, a study conducted by Purdue University in 2019 said that astronomers had identified two exoplanets that could even support life. That same year, two scientists were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for their discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a sun-type star.
