Multiple Shooting Incidents in Rotterdam, Dutch – Fatalities and Injuries Reported

The shooting occurred in two separate locations in Rotterdam, Dutch. A number of people were reportedly injured and killed.

Reported by AFP, Thursday (28/9/2023) the police have arrested one armed man. The perpetrator was caught after hiding in the hospital.

It is said that three people were injured as a result of this incident. The perpetrator is said to be 32 years old, but the motive for the attack is not yet known.

According to local news agency ANP, the fire broke out at the hospital, the Erasmus medical center, and is still burning. Elite police units stormed into hospitals in the city Dutch to search for a suspect wearing combat clothing and armed with a handgun, authorities said.

Images from the scene showed people leaving the hospital, including medics, as police wearing body armor entered.

The first shot was fired at a nearby flat which also caught fire. Meanwhile, the second shooting incident occurred in a classroom at the medical center, police said.

Local police also said there were fatalities in this incident. However, the exact number of fatalities has not been stated.

“Two shooting incidents in Rotterdam have claimed lives. We will first inform families and relatives and will explain more later,” city police said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.
