Controversial Transgender Arrested, Ever Used Umrah in Women’s Clothing

Nur Sajat, a transgender from Malaysia, had to deal with the Thai authorities. Nur Sajat who was born a man and once caused a stir by wearing women’s clothing during umrah was arrested for immigration problems.

The arrests were made by the Thai immigration authorities. According to the Daily Metro report, Nur Sajat committed an immigration violation on September 9, 2021.

The Thai Immigration Department said it had been aware of the cosmetic businessman’s whereabouts since March before finally securing him on September 8 in a luxury condominium in Bangkok.

“On June 4, the Thai Immigration had scouted the whereabouts of Nur Sajat in one of his luxury apartments in Bangkok. After conducting a passcode and surveillance, raids were carried out on his hiding place,” a source said as quoted by Harian Metro.

The source also added that Nur Sajat admitted that he had indeed fled Malaysia.

Malaysia wants to prosecute Nur Sajat because he was accused of violating Sharia Law by wearing women’s clothes in front of the Kaaba in 2018. The transgender man has also lived in Bangkok for a long time.

The day after his arrest, Nur Sajat was released after one of his colleagues identified as Misha paid a ransom of US$ 2,000 or equivalent to Rp. 28 million.
