Morocco: PSA factory restarts operations on May 6 – News 04/05/2020

RABAT NEWS, May 4, 2020 (Yeclo with Xinhua) – The PSA group’s plant in Kénitra (40 km north of Rabat) will restart its activities on May 6, in a gradual and secure manner with the deployment of reinforced health measures to keep employees safe from the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a PSA statement.

“Protecting our employees and protecting our company remain the two intangible principles for the conduct of our operations. Our enhanced measures protocol offers a high level of protection to our employees worldwide and constitutes the first criterion for restarting our production sites, said Yann Vincent, Industrial Director of the PSA group, in the press release.

The PSA plant will “gradually and securely” revive its industrial plant to manufacture the cars expected by its customers, he said.

For his part, Samir Cherfan, executive vice-president for the Africa & Middle East region of the PSA group, explained that since the closure of the factory, the group had implemented a reinforced health protocol with the support of the service medical and in close collaboration with the social partners.

The PSA plant in Kenitra started production in June 2019 with the aim of ensuring the manufacture of 200,000 vehicles per year from mid-2020. The site illustrates the ambitions of the French car manufacturer in the Africa-Middle East region. End
