In the more than half a year since the occurrence of the first confirmed cases of covid-19 in the Czech Republic, 31,036 people became infected with coronavirus, of which over 20,000 have already been cured and 444 have died.
Due to the worsened situation, the obligation to wear a veil in the interior of buildings began to apply throughout the Czech Republic on Thursday. From the beginning of September, people must have their mouths and noses covered in public transport, in offices and in medical and social facilities. The government decided on Wednesday evening that people over the age of 60 would receive a respirator and five drapes. Česká pošta will start working on the organization of the distribution of packages on Thursday.
According to the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES), the return of children to schools is not yet behind the deterioration of the situation. According to him, children under the age of 15 make up seven percent of those infected. “This means that most of the increase is adults, rather perhaps it is a question of returning to work after holidays, greater social interaction in general,” he told Radiožurnál on Thursday.

Prague on the Belgian and German “red lists”
According to epidemiologists, the worst situation with the occurrence of coronavirus in Prague is the only one on the map of districts according to the risk of infection in the orange degree. According to the Ministry of Health, community transmission began in the capital. Belgium and Germany have therefore included Prague on the “red list” of risky places, passengers from it will have to test or quarantine upon arrival.
The most significant increase in the number of infected people in the last seven days per 100,000 inhabitants is in the Pelhřimov region, over 116 cases. The infection was confirmed, among other things, in a home for the elderly in Humpolec. At the request of the region, 15 soldiers have been helping with the care of the elderly since Wednesday. In the facility, 23 clients of one of the departments and 19 employees fell ill.
The Plzeň-jih district has almost 111 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the past week. A new outbreak appeared in Nová Ves in the Pilsen region. In a village with 280 inhabitants, coronavirus infection was confirmed in more than twenty people. On Thursday, paramedics from the mobile sampling team will test the residents. Extraordinary measures have been in force in the village since Wednesday. People there must wear masks or respirators in public places, they must keep their distance, they must not gather. The restaurant and the municipal office have closed to the public, cultural, social and sports events and private celebrations may not be held.
The third most significant increase in morbidity was recorded by hygienists in Prague, where in the last week there were over 96 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants. The districts of Beroun and Kladno follow.
According to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES), the Czechia is facing a difficult autumn, but the country cannot afford economic restrictions and the government will not introduce them. According to the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES), possible measures could only be in the regions with the worst epidemiological situation.
