More than 20 fires reported in less than 24 hours in Tijuana

Tijuana.- In less than 24 hours, 24 fires have been registered in Tijuana since the condition of Winds of Santa Ana, one of them around the 28th Infantry Battalion -of the Mexican Army- and it was also necessary to evict more than 300 people from an area of ​​departments, the body of City firefighters.

In a press release, the City Council reported that low relative humidity, high temperatures and the presence of winds caused the fires mainly in zacatales in different parts of the municipality.

Last Monday, 12 fires were reported that were registered in neighborhoods such as Valle Imperial, Barcelona Residencial, Altiplano, El Niño, among others, of which 11 were completely extinguished, with only the Imperial Valley being active.

For Tuesday morning, due to the weather conditions, another 12 fires occurred, in which work is still being done to be put down by personnel from the 17 fire stations, who work with a total of 20 fire extinguishers.

The affected areas are: Nido de las Águilas, Panamericano, Valle Bonito, Los Potros, El lago, Juan Ojeda Robles, Ojo de Agua, Villa Floresta, El Jibarito, Loma Bonita, Loma del Porvenir and the 28th Infantry Battalion.

Néstor Alarcón Morales, in charge of the dispatch of the Fire Department, pointed out that in the fire that develops in the El Lago neighborhood, it was necessary to evacuate 350 people whose homes, located in a residential complex, are adjacent to the area where the workers work. smoke swallows to put out the flames.

The official called on the population to follow the safety recommendations to avoid forest or grass fires, since current weather conditions allow the fire to spread rapidly.

He exhorted the population to avoid burning garbage, not to throw cigarette butts in areas with dry vegetation, not to throw garbage in vacant lots, especially glass bottles; and with regard to homes, remove the litter from the roofs and keep the spaces surrounding the homes clean and free of vegetation in a minimum space of 15 meters.

According to the monitoring of the weather forecast models, this condition will remain until next Tuesday, so the community is asked to take extreme precautions, today all for Tijuana.
