At least ten thousand children in North Brabant cannot go to school on Monday, because teachers stay at home, reports Broadcasting Brabant. Teachers follow the advice of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and do not work with mild flu-like symptoms.
The RIVM advises Noord-Brabant people to stay at home as a precaution if they have a cold, cough or have a fever. This province contains the majority of Dutch coronavirus-infected persons who are unclear about how they became infected. That is why there is stricter advice for Noord-Brabant than for the rest of the country.
Broadcasting Brabant made a tour of various school umbrella organizations and reports that many children are forced to stay home on Monday, because cold, coughing or feverish teachers follow the RIVM advice.
Most children stay at home in Eindhoven. This concerns a total of 4,116 students. Tilburg is in second place with 2,800 children. Breda follows with 700 students and Helmond with 137. In Helmond the figure can be according to Broadcasting Brabant change, because not all schools have responded to the demand from the regional broadcaster.
In some schools, pupils do not have to sit at home, but are divided into other classes.
