Previously, representatives of the SIS, EsSalud, the Ministry of Health and the Association of Private Clinics agreed on the terms of reference and the model contract for the care of patients with the new coronavirus.

The official said that while clinics are not required to sign contracts, There is an agreement for establishments that have intensive care units (ICUs) with mechanical ventilators to accept, so he expressed his confidence that they will do so.

In that line, he stressed that The agreement seeks to favor seriously ill patients who require a mechanical ventilator and an ICU bed. He also said that there are two ways to go to the clinic, the main one is when the public system does not have capacity in the ICUs, patients will be referred to clinics that have signed a contract with the Government.

However, he added, if the life of a person with COVID-19 is at risk you can go to any private health facility and be treated under the Emergency Law. “There the doctor will determine if he requires a ventilator or not.”
