Festivals » The Montreux Jazz Festival (MJF) which was to take place from July 3 to 18 in Montreux, is canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The programming planned for this summer will be partially postponed to the next edition, which will be held from July 2 to 17, 2021.
It was with “deep regret” that the MJF organization announced its decision yesterday morning. In 53 years of history, human adventures and legendary musical moments, an edition of the festival should never have been canceled, she said in a press release.
The Federal Council announced Thursday that it will gradually relax certain protective measures against the coronavirus, but it maintains the majority of the necessary hygiene and social distancing measures.
Since then, it is impossible today to envisage a demonstration of the magnitude of the MJF in July, explained Mathieu Jaton, patron of the festival. Health obviously takes precedence over all other considerations. “This is a situation that we have been preparing for the past few days,” he said. ATS
