Fidel Mondragón Palomo is the new goalkeeper coach of the beach soccer team, who will see action in the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup 2024 from March 28 to 30 at the Costa del Sol stadium.
Mondragón was in charge of the work of the archers of the senior, female and youth national teams, so being with the beach warriors is his first experience in this modality.
“This is a new experience for me, being able to coach the goalkeepers of this team is a source of pride. Preparing these beach soccer goalkeepers, both men’s and women’s, is an opportunity and a challenge because we want them to win the title,” declared the goalkeeping coach.
In that sense, the goalkeeping coach is aware of the demands of being in charge of these national teams.
“As a coach, this is a modality in which you have to be prepared to know what type of indication and demand you have to give to the goalkeepers. It is an advantage that each goalkeeper knows this modality well and you only have to recognize what needs to be improved; For example, we want them to be faster in their reactions,” said Mondragón
One of his main objectives when integrating the coaching staff of this team is to ensure that the goalkeepers have the best instructions and tools to make a quality presentation in each match.
“The upcoming competition is relevant for me, I want to be part of the triumphs of this team. These combinations have the full support of the government and federation authorities, which makes it even more interesting for our work and everything that must be applied,” said Fidel.
The goalkeepers he is working with in the beach team are also members of teams in the Beach Soccer League, organized by the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES).
In men, those summoned are Eliodoro Portillo, from Chirilagua; Wilber Navarrete, from San Marcelino; and Erick Nájera, from Barra de Santiago. While in women, the goalkeepers called to the process are Beatriz Argumedo, from Barra de Santiago; Karla Sorto, from San Marcelino; and Yahaira Maravilla, from La Canoa del Bajo Lempa.
