The SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach speaks about possible corona easing and his personal ambitions for the office of health minister.

Berlin – When the official part is over, Karl Lauterbach will remain a popular interlocutor for a while. Many readers of the Stuttgarter Zeitung are queuing up to talk to the Social Democrats’ health experts. Lauterbach takes his time and is also available for photos. The 58-year-old says that he does not always experience this encouragement. He could no longer leave his own house without personal protection, and this morning there was again a security guard in close proximity with him. “Otherwise I would not get rid of the people,” says the SPD politician, who, as a result of the pandemic, gained fame like hardly anyone else – and at the same time has become a polarizing stimulus as a warning.
