Modica, Syracusan child dead: bruises on the body, the mother’s companion stopped

There is a man arrested for the death of Rosolini’s one-year-old child: he is the companion of his mother. The little boy had arrived in the Modica hospital in the afternoon with bruises on his body. There was little for him to do: he died shortly after.

This bad story began yesterday morning in Rosolini, in the province of Syracuse. According to the first reconstructions, the mother Letizia Spatola would have found the dying child. A neighbor, hearing the lady’s screams, would have called for help. Little Evan was taken to the Modica hospital, where he arrived around 12:30. The bruises on his body made the agents suspicious.

The policemen of the Modica police station immediately heard the baby’s mother and grandparents. The collected elements suggest that the child died as a result of the beatings. “He was bruised,” says a relative. For a year the woman had no longer lived with Evan’s father, but with a man from Noto. The father, who lives off the island, was warned.
