REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) has issued an emergency use permit (EUA) for the Covid-19 vaccine. The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) admits that it is trying to bring Modern Vaccine through multilateral diplomacy. “Thursday is trying (to bring in the Moderna Vaccine) through multilateral diplomacy,” said Spokesperson for Covid-19 Vaccination from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Siti Nadia Tarmizi when contacted by Republika, Saturday (3/7).

He added that this vaccine was planned to be imported from the UN Covax Facility multilateral cooperation negotiations. He added, the Covid-19 vaccine that can be imported from this vaccine scheme is a maximum of 20 percent of the population. This means, if the population of Indonesia is around 270 million people, the vaccine that can be obtained from Covax is for 54 million people. However, he added, the type of vaccine given was of a different type. Until now, the AstraZeneca vaccine from Covax Faxility has arrived in Indonesia first.

He added that this brand of vaccine is included in the government program. Initially, he added, the government was committed to bringing in 3 million doses of this vaccine. Regarding the possibility of Indonesia buying the Moderna vaccine, Nadia admitted that the Indonesian government had not planned it. “That’s enough for four types of vaccines, we’ll just have to wait for developments,” he said.

He said the four types of Covid-19 vaccines were first, namely Sinovac from China, the second was the Covid-19 vaccine produced by the SOE Vaccine Producing Bio Farma, the third was AstraZeneca which was obtained from the Covax facility, and the fourth was Sinopharm.
