“Our members’ estimate in April was an income loss of 10 to 30 percent. It will soon be tens of millions, ”director Margreet Plug of the industry association tells the FD.
Collecting door-to-door was not possible during the corona crisis. Running, cycling or swimming events, which traditionally have been used to raise large amounts of money for charities, have recently been canceled or suspended.
Events
Certain charities are currently being restarted, but major events are not yet underway: “It is therefore difficult to say now what the eventual loss of income will be,” said Plug.
The Dutch Cancer Society says it has had “tens of millions of euros” less income, for example because the climb of the Alpe d’Huez was canceled. A favorable exception is the Salvation Army, which has actually brought in more than budgeted.
