After more than half a year, the lunch of super investor Warren Buffett and the Chinese cryptomillionaire Justin Sun has finally taken place. 29-year-old Sun deposited more than 4.5 million dollars (almost 4.1 million euros) in June last year for lunch.
Buffett auctions such a lunch every year. The money goes to charity. Buyers of the expensive lunch usually keep that to themselves, but Sun broke that tradition by announcing it on social media.
He then surprised everyone by suggesting that lunch would not take place in Buffett’s favorite steakhouse in New York, but in San Francisco. Sun has its own office there.
To make it even more remarkable, Sun then postponed lunch. According to him, he did this for health reasons. But some of them put their question marks there, because then he could be seen partying on social media. He later apologized for that, because, according to him, the delay led to “a lot of unforeseen consequences”. What he was talking about exactly, he did not make clear.
‘Priceless advice’ from Buffett
In the meantime, lunch has taken place, Sun announces on LinkedIn. Not in San Francisco or New York, but in Buffett’s hometown of Omaha. “4.5 million dollars for a dinner of 515.05 dollars was more than worth the money. The insights I have received are priceless,” says Sun on Twitter, with a photo of the receipt as proof.
Buffett, who has questioned bitcoin and other crypto coins, received his first crypto coin from Sun during lunch. The coin is stored on a brand new Galaxy Fold, which he also received from Sun.
