August 14, 2020. REUTERS / Brendan McDermid — Aug 23 (Reuters) – Microsoft Corp said in a court document Sunday that its video game business and that of other firms would be affected by Apple Inc’s threat to leave the creator of “Fortnite” out of its developer tools. The document was delivered in the framework of a dispute between Apple and Epic Games. Apple removed Epic titles from its App Store after the video game maker violated payment rules within the iPhone maker’s app. Epic claims that Apple also threatened to cut off access to the tools necessary to maintain “Unreal Engine,” a software that many video game developers license to create better graphics. Microsoft claimed that the decision would affect at least one of its games, “Forza Street,” which uses the engine for the iOS version.
