Microsoft: Internet Netizen’s Level of Politeness During the Pandemic Gets Worse

INDOZONE.ID – Microsoft recently conducted a study called the Digital Civility Index (DCI) to monitor the level of politeness of netizens on the internet over time.

Especially in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have to spend their time at home and the internet is certainly one of the places for us to express opinions and seek information.

But Microsoft reports that the politeness level of internet netizens during this pandemic is decreasing. This means that more and more people are not polite when they have opinions on social media and the internet.

It is known that Microsoft conducted this survey by collecting respondents from 22 major countries to be asked whether the level of politeness on the internet is now improving or getting worse. And 82 percent of the respondents said that politeness is getting lower.

Only one country, namely Colombia, has said that there has been an increase in politeness on the internet during the COVID-19 pandemic, while the rest of it is the opposite.

Microsoft itself hopes that there will be an increase in politeness on the internet so that new internet users will not feel disturbed by the condition of the virtual world which is now experiencing a total decline in positive actions.
