LANDMARK – Pending its presentation, scheduled for 2 September, Mercedes is unveiling the main features of the new generation of Mercedes S Class on the technological and security front (who e who to know more). Today it is the turn of the interior, which represents a clear evolution compared to what has been seen so far on the cars of the German house.
DIFFUSED LIGHTS – The dashboard of the new Mercedes S Class has a more essential design, because the new multimedia system has made it possible to eliminate 27 physical keys compared to the dashboard of the S-Class in the process of retirement. Many of the functions are now controlled either by voice or via the 12.8 ”touch screen placed vertically in the center of the console. Without buttons and with the central vents housed in the upper part of the dashboard, the central band appears even more luxurious: thanks to the extensive upholstery in precious wood. The ambient lights contribute to enhance it, reminiscent of the courtesy lights of aircraft: as well as on the dashboard, they are also present under the central tunnel and in the doors. The ambient lights are composed of 250 light diodes, 1.6 cm apart from each other, which make the light beam appear continuous and make the whole more satisfying.
TRAVEL WITHOUT STRESS – The lights that illuminate the passenger compartment of the Mercedes S Class they can change tones on command of the driver or automatically. To change the color is the renewed Energizing system: it is designed to help the driver or passengers on long journeys, when they feel tired or need to relax. By vocally selecting one of the five programs, namely Recharge, Vitality, Warmth, Joy and Comfort, the Mercedes S-Class adjusts the interior lighting, the air flow rate and temperature, the music, the seat angle and its massage function to assist the occupants. Furthermore, by calling up the voice assistant Hey Mercedes and saying “I’m stressed”, the electronics automatically start the Gioia program.
FOCUS ON THE SEATS – The MBUX multimedia system also helps to establish the best driving position: when a new person occupies the driver’s seat, by saying his height, it automatically triggers the adjustment of the chair, steering wheel and side mirrors, which will be arranged to allow him the best view to the outside; the driver can however set the driving position himself. Even the seats of the new Mercedes Class S have been improved: the front ones integrate the speakers of the audio system, the rear ones have more adjustments, are equipped with a new heatable neck pillow and offer a more effective massage function, with six inflatable air cushions. The flagship is available in versions with a rear sofa or two single armchairs, standard or extendable.
