Mercedes-Benz Electric Car Crashes on JORR Toll Road: Police Investigate the Cause

Mercedes-Benz electric car (Mercy) was involved in a single accident on the JORR Toll Road near GT Ciputat 2 in Jakarta. The police have now uncovered the cause of the accident.

According to Kompol Sutikno, the Head of the Highway Patrol Unit (PJR) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Police, the driver confessed that they felt the steering wheel pulling to the left. This led to the car, driven by Parman, crashing into a moveable concrete barrier (MCB) on the left side of the road. As a result, the tires of the electric Mercy car got stuck.

“The tire got stuck in the guard rail facing west. That was the final position of the toll road barrier,” said Kompol Sutikno.

The accident occurred around 06.15 WIB and a photo uploaded by the TMC Polda Metro Jaya account shows the black sedan crashing into the road divider. The front left bumper of the car appears damaged, and one of the wheels is seen up against the road divider.

“The accident has been handled by Polri and PT Jasa Marga officers,” wrote TMC Polda Metro.

This incident highlights the importance of proper maintenance and regular checks for electric cars to ensure their safe operation on the roads. It also serves as a reminder for drivers to pay attention to any unusual sensations or behaviors of their vehicles and take appropriate action to prevent accidents.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and authorities will continue to gather more information to determine if there were any other contributing factors.
