Mental health apps neglect integrity – “exceptionally nasty”

Mozilla has taken a closer look at 32 apps aimed at people who want help improving their mental health or praying.

According to the survey, 29 of the apps collect sensitive information from users, which is then used by advertisers to send targeted advertising.

In addition to a lack of respect for privacy, security is also under all criticism in the majority of the surveyed apps, for example, passwords that are easy to figure out are approved.

– The majority of all apps for mental health or prayer are exceptionally nasty, says Jen Caltride of Mozilla in a statement quoted by The Verge.

The apps that have been singled out include Better Help, Youper, Woebot, Better Stop Suicide, Pray.com and Talkspace. The whole list is available to view Mozilla’s website.
