McLaren appoints Stephanie Carlin as F1 operations director[F1-Gate.com]

McLaren F1 Team has announced that Stephanie Carlin will join the team as F1 Business Operations Director from January 2024.

According to an official statement, Stefani’s role at McLaren will include supporting McLaren’s participation in the F1 Academy in 2024. She will report directly to McLaren F1 team principal Andrea Stella.

Stephanie began her career in marketing and press and was promoted to commercial manager at Carlin, owned by her husband Trevor Carlin, in 2011.

Stephanie is a well-known figure in the world of auto racing, having competed in several championships before taking on high-profile management positions. She was then promoted to Carlin’s team vice president in May 2022, overseeing the management of team activities at several championships. She remained at the top when Carlin partnered with New Zealand car manufacturer Rodin, and she was team principal at the FIA ​​F3 and F1 academies. She is also the team principal of Lewis Hamilton’s Extreme E team ‘X44’.

Carlin competed in F1 Academy and Spanish F4 for the first time last year, as well as British GB3, British F4, FIA F3 and FIA F2. With over 470 race wins and 30 championships in F4, F3, F2, Indy Lights, IndyCar, ELMS and Asian Le Mans Series since 1999, it is one of the most successful racing teams outside of F1.

However, the team’s founder, Trevor Carlin, resigned from the Rodin Carlin board last month and parted ways with the team that bears his name.

And Stephanie Carlin’s new role at McLaren comes at a time when the F1 team is looking to maintain momentum after a strong 2023 season in which the team finished fourth. McLaren’s star driver Lando Norris knows Stefanie well, having raced with the team in the junior category.
