Mangistau turned out to be the leader in rising prices for non-food products

news-id-116072" style="display:inline;">According to the Bureau of National Statistics, among the regions, the highest monthly inflation was registered in Shymkent – 1.1 percent, the lowest – in Almaty, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda regions – 0.4 percent each.

“By region, prices for food products increased the most in the city of Shymkent – by 1.8 percent, non-food products – in the Mangystau region – by 1.8 percent, paid services – in the Atyrau region by 2.5 percent,” reported the Bureau of National statistics.

It is noted that in October 2023, the monthly consumer price index in the country amounted to 0.7 percent (in September of this year – 0.6 percent). Prices for paid services and non-food products increased by 0.8 percent, food products – by 0.5 percent.

In the sphere of paid services, prices for rental housing increased by 2.3 percent, hotel services – by 2.2 percent, and complex recreation organizations – by 2.1 percent. Tariffs for sewerage increased by three percent, garbage removal – by 1.5 percent. A decrease in prices is observed for detergents and cleaning products by 0.6 percent.

An increase in prices in October of this year was noted for AI-98 gasoline; it rose in price by 3.7 percent, AI-95/96 gasoline – by 1.5 percent. Prices for a TV increased by 8.3 percent, a laptop by six percent, and an electric heater by 4.7 percent.

Among food products, prices for tomatoes increased by 9.6 percent, eggs – by 5.5 percent, cucumbers – by 5.3 percent, flour – by 4.3 percent, confectionery – by 1.3 percent, bread – by 1 .2 percent. Price increases were noted for tobacco products by 2.1 percent, alcoholic beverages – by 1.2 percent, mineral and drinking water – by 0.9 percent. Vegetables fell in price by 1.8 percent, sunflower oil by 0.9 percent, and cereals by 0.8 percent.

– Inflation in October 2023 on an annualized basis was 10.8 percent. Prices for food products increased by 10.4 percent, paid services – by 11 percent, non-food products – by 11.1 percent, the Bureau of National Statistics noted.
