The accident is said to have happened around 00:30 on Sunday night. The accident happened on the deck of a small fishing boat, 50 nautical miles outside Tromsø.
– The Coast Guard’s rescue helicopter was in town, and took with it one of the crew who was injured. He was later reported dead when they came to UNN, says operations manager Eirik Kileng in Troms Police District.
The boat had a crew of four people. No one else should be harmed.
The deceased is a man in his 20s from Nordland. The relatives have been notified.
The boat is now on its way to the quay in Tromsø.
– We will then carry out forensic investigations on the boat, and interrogate the others who were on board, says Kileng.
Until this is done, they will not say anything more about how the accident happened, or which boat it is.
