Kochi: A man who tried to kidnap a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was arrested in Perumbavoor. Simachal Bisho, a native of Odisha, tried to abduct a two-and-a-half-year-old foreigner girl from Vengola Punur. The accused tried to abduct the child while he was playing with his siblings. The locals caught the suspect and handed him over to the police.
The accused tried to abduct the child at 2.30 pm on Monday. But in the meantime, when the other children made noise, he grabbed the mobile phone from the child’s hand and tried to pass. In the meantime, the locals heard the commotion and detained the accused. Then the police reached the spot and arrested him.
Such incidents against children are increasing in the state. A few days ago, another similar incident took place near Mudikkal-Periyar junction. They tried to kidnap a 13-year-old daughter of foreigners. But the child was saved with the intervention of locals.
Last July, Ashaq Alam (26), a native of Bihar, abducted and killed a five-year-old girl who was the daughter of a Bihar couple living on rent at Mukkat Plaza in Aluva. One and a half kilometers away, the child was buried behind the Aluva market amid garbage.
The police arrested the accused within five and a half hours of the incident, but could not find the child. The mother was in the room when the child was abducted in the afternoon from a residence near Taikkattukara garage. Father had gone out. He is the second child among the four children of the couple who are natives of Bishamparpur, Bihar. He was studying in the first class at Thaikkattukara School Complex.
