18 residents and seven people from the staff of the Nursing Home in Sieradz (Tarnów poviat) were infected with coronavirus – said Joanna Paździo, the spokeswoman for the Małopolska voivode. This is one of the COVID-19 outbreaks in Małopolska.

The first case of coronavirus in this DPS was detected at the end of last week. “Therefore, it was decided to collect swabs for tests from the charges and employees of this facility. It was done on Monday. The first results we obtained show that another 17 residents and seven employees are infected. One of the residents is in the hospital” – said Oct.

As she noted, these numbers may still change as not all research results are known. Additionally, four residents of this facility are hospitalized for reasons other than COVID-19.

The Nursing Home in Sieradza is intended for chronically mentally ill women. 84 people stayed there. 79 residents and 20 staff members were quarantined due to coronavirus infections.

The Małopolska Voivodship Office twice – on Friday and Monday – handed over to the facility personal protective equipment: goggles, helmets, surgical masks, gloves, coveralls and disinfectants.
