The Braunschweig Regional Court sees it as proven that B. raided, raped and robbed an American (72) in her house.
The rapist was only convicted at the time. Loud “Braunschweiger newspaper” two friends of B. belonging to the petty criminal milieu broke into his apartment and captured a video camera. It shows: the hideous rape of the 72-year-old in her house in Portugal.
Shocked by the recordings, the men turned to the police. The examined again all known cases from the region – and came across the American. Although the woman had not recognized him, a body hair B. was doomed. This was found on the victim’s bed sheet. This later led to the conviction of B., who is not yet final.
The suspect was born in Würzburg under a different name in 1976. He came to the home and was adopted by the B. family, whose name he adopted.
According to the criminal record, he is 1.82 meters tall, pockmarked, has a smoking bite, chewed fingernails.

His criminal career started early.
► In February 1992, he was arrested for a break-in: a case of “particularly serious theft”.
► In 1994 he stood before the regional court in Würzburg. He had abused a six-year-old girl in a playground. When it started to cry, the trainee ran away. He also tried a nine-year-old, dropped his pants, fled again. Because he was on probation at the time, there was two years in prison.
When asked by the juvenile judge what he had in mind with the acts, B said: “I didn’t think anything.” His appraiser decided: B. Only under close supervision would B. be unproblematic.
He disappeared from Würzburg. His criminal record grew.
► Theft, bodily harm, cases of sexual assault followed,
child sexual abuse, child pornography distribution. There were also drug offenses.
Striking: The deeds in Germany end in 1995, apparently do not start here again until 2007. According to the BKA, in the meantime he has mainly been in the Algarve.
Among others he lived in a finca between Lagos and Praia da Luz – according to local residents, it was never searched. Another home (next to a primary school) was inspected this week. According to the BKA, B. kept himself afloat with odd jobs. In addition, he is said to have committed burglaries in hotel complexes and holiday apartments and has also dealt in drugs again.
During this time, the investigators suspected, Christian B. had kidnapped and killed Maddie.
He is said to have exchanged information about the girl in an Internet chat years after the fact …
B. disappears from the Algarve in 2007 and is said to have operated a kiosk in Braunschweig between 2012 and 2014. B. has been in custody since June 22, 2017.
Investigators are now working flat out to prove the crime against Maddie.
