NEW YORK — Luna Park at Coney Island, New York City’s most iconic amusement destination, is gearing up to honor a momentous occasion celebrating the park’s historic expansion and the 120th anniversary of Luna Park’s original creation in 1903.

On June 7 starting at 6:00 pm, Luna Park will celebrate historic expansion, featuring New York City’s first 50-foot ropes courses and seaside adventure zones, built-in roller coasters and canal rides of water, places to eat and drink, and pedestrian plazas.

Guests, visitors and members of the local community can join this incredible celebration like never before with a free event featuring special carnival-style performances, music, entertainment and treats at Luna Park’s new main entrance on Stillwell Avenue.

Today, Luna Park honors that rich heritage of the world’s most influential park by creating history with the future. Its most recent additions pay homage to the history of the Coney Island Amusement District and enhance the unique Brooklyn heritage and identity that Luna Park is known for today.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this expansion, a milestone that honors the enduring spirit of fun and joy that has defined this beloved Amusement District and our community throughout its history,” said Alessandro Zamperla, President and CEO of Central Amusement International Inc. “With the addition of these new attractions, food and beverage venues and pedestrian plazas, we are excited to continue celebrating the legacy of Coney Island by bringing the ultimate amusement park experience to New York City.”

The return of Luna Park breathed new life into the historic Amusement District, revitalizing its storied past, benefiting Coney Island’s small business community, generating record revenue for Riegelmann Boardwalk businesses, and providing thousands of job opportunities in South Brooklyn in general. Through their investments and commitment, Central Amusement International Inc. was able to return the Coney Island Amusement District to the center of business in the area and energize its economy with the opening of a new district imagined, recreated and revitalized.
