After the EHPAD of Vasles, in Vienne, last week, it is the turn of that of Latillé, eight kms away, to launch an appeal to find people capable of helping and replacing its sick staff.

Prevent and anticipate. Sophie Pastilha, the director of the EHPAD la Chèze d’or in Latillé in Vienne, is not one to let the crisis set in. “To date, I have one in 62 residents with COVID and 4 in 50 caregivers, “she specifies. And yet Monday afternoon November 2, this director launched a call on a social network to recruit people.
For all reasons, I currently have 14 people on leave and when we do a second massive screening during the week, the number will inevitably increase.
“For the moment it is manageable, but I prefer to anticipate, I take the lead by building up a stock of potential candidates” explains Sophie Pastilha.
In less than 24 hours, she has already received around fifteen service offers from people with or without a diploma. “For untrained people, we may assign them simple tasks such as maintenance of the premises or laundry. There is no contact with residents. “
The director is all the more vigilant that less than 10 km from her establishment, the EHPAD in Vasles took the same step last week. The massive screening carried out Monday, October 26, revealed new positive cases. “As of November 3, we have 18 staff out of 70 and 34 residents out of 76, who are affected by COVID, “explains Séverine Gaury the director of the EHPAD of Vasles. On Friday, she therefore launched an appeal to recruit temporary staff. Fifteen firefighters from SDIS 79 volunteered and each day a nurse and two firefighters are present, in turn. In addition, eleven people have been hired since the end of the week.
“It warmed our hearts to see so much reactivity and proposals in such a short time”
Latillé and Vasles launched their appeal, but other nursing homes should follow after the massive screening campaigns organized in many establishments. “We’re all gonna need some help for sure“, concludes Séverine Gaury.
