Several injured after attack with corrosive liquid in London
A woman and her two young children have been sent to hospital after a man threw what appears to be a caustic substance at them in south London.
Three police officers were also slightly injured, probably when they came to the scene to help the woman and her children. A further three people were also sent to hospital for a check-up, the police said.
– Tests are underway to determine what kind of substance they are exposed to, but we believe it is a corrosive agent, says Police Superintendent Alexander Castle.
– A man was seen when he fled the scene. We have deployed resources to apprehend this person and we are working to find out what has led to this terrible incident, says Castle.
Police were notified of the incident near Clapham Common in the south of the English capital shortly before 7.30pm on Wednesday evening.
