Argentine Foreign Minister and IPCVA President Discuss Strategies to Strengthen Meat Exports and Expand International Presence

Foreign Minister Diana Mondino met with the president of the Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef (IPCVA), Jorge Grimberg, to address strategies that include the opening of new markets, the expansion of quotas and the negotiations in the MERCOSUR-EU agreement , with the aim of strengthening the Argentine presence in the international arena.

Argentine meat exports reached significant figures last year. And the Foreign Ministry committed to supporting promotional campaigns and improving access conditions for the livestock sector.

“During the meeting, Mondino reaffirmed the Foreign Ministry’s commitment and support to the promotion campaigns in the strategic markets identified by the IPCVA, as well as to the improvement of access conditions and the comprehensive promotion of the livestock sector,” they reported from the Government.

In the last year, Argentina stood out in beef exports, managing to send abroad nearly 932 thousand tons of bone-in beef and 112 thousand tons of bovine bones, with a value that exceeded US$ 2,687 million.

In turn, in November 2023, foreign sales of bovine meat and bones registered a significant increase of 18.4% compared to October of the same year and an increase of 11.9% compared to November 2022.

Meanwhile, China is consolidating itself as the main destination for Argentine beef exports, marking a significant development by absorbing 47.4 thousand tons, which represents 64% of the total exported value.

Likewise, this solid performance underlines China’s strategic position as a key trading partner for Argentine beef. Germany continues in importance, acquiring 2.2 thousand tons, equivalent to 9.6% of exports, while Chile is positioned in third place with 1.8 thousand tons, representing 5.6% of the sector’s export market.

The meeting between the president of the IPCVA and Chancellor Mondino highlighted the importance of exploring new markets and consolidating the exports that the sector achieved in recent years. Grimberg was accompanied by the vice president of the entity, Daniel Urcía, the advisor Mario Ravettino, and the head of the external promotion area, Sergio Rey.
