BEIJING – UPDATE 10.30 am (Victim turns out to be a woman): A 60-year-old American has died in China from the effects of the new corona virus. It is the first time that a foreigner in China succumbs to the condition. The US Embassy in Beijing confirmed on Saturday the death of the countryman. The victim, a woman according to American media, was infected in the city of Wuhan and died on Thursday.
