Thiruvananthapuram: The counting of votes for the local by-elections held in the state on Tuesday is in progress. Elections were held for 28 wards in 12 districts except Idukki and Kasaragod. Kozhikode- UDF wins in Cheruvannur Kakkara Muk ward. P. Mumtaz won the seat from LDF by 168 votes, this is the ward which LDF won by eleven votes in the last election. With this, the governing body has 8 wards. LDF has seven wards.

Kollam- The UDF captured the CPM’s sitting seat in Meenathucherry in the third division of Corperesh. RSP’s Deepu Gangadharan won by 638 votes.

LDF candidate N Anilkumar (Aji) won by 241 votes in Valakudi Panchayat Kunnikode North Ward. The by-election was held after the death of CPM representative A Rahim Kutty

Kottayam- Left government will fall in Erumeli panchayat. UDF candidate Anita Santhosh won by 232 votes in Ozhakanad ward where the election was held. With this, UDF 12 became LDF 11

Malappuram- UDF wins in Chakkittamala of Karulai Panchayat. Sundaran Karuvada won by 68 votes.

Wayanad- UDF wins Batheri Palakara by-election. UDF candidate KS Pramod defeated LDF’s PK Damu by 204 votes. Pramod got 573 votes while PK Damu got 369 votes.

Pathanamthitta- BJP’s Ramachandran won in Ambattubhag ward of Kallupara panchayat by 93 votes.

Alappuzha- BJP candidate VP Binu won by 83 votes in Thanneermukkam Ward of Thanneermukkam Gram Panchayat.
