LIVE | Waiting time after Janssen injection is extended to four weeks | Inland

Anyone who has had Janssen’s corona vaccine will soon be considered fully vaccinated only after four weeks, Prime Minister Mark Rutte reported on Monday. So far, it took two weeks before someone who had been pricked with Janssen received a green tick in the CoronaCheck app. The new rule will come into effect on August 14.

According to the prime minister, the vaccine “needs a little more processing time.”

11.00 – Berlin bans new protests against corona rules

The city of Berlin has banned three demonstrations announced for Monday by opponents of the corona measures. According to the police, the protesters are ignoring corona measures such as keeping their distance and are therefore not allowed to take to the streets. The authorities in Berlin do allow other demonstrations.

Over the weekend, despite a ban, an estimated 5,000 people protested in the German capital against what they believe to be illegal and excessive corona measures.

There were riots here and there. Several officers were injured and protesters were also said to have been dealt with harshly. The police kept water cannons on hand. Protesters chanted slogans such as “peace, freedom, no dictatorship.”

The Querdenk movement, which opposes the corona policy, had called for a demonstration in Berlin on Sunday. Police have already tried to stop demonstrators on the outskirts of the city and cracked down on the demonstrators in the center, leading to clashes. Six hundred protesters have been arrested. One of the protesters was taken to hospital after being arrested and died. The cause of death is under further investigation.

8.35 – Planned second shot can be achieved a week earlier

Dutch people who have not yet been fully vaccinated, but who already have an appointment for a second shot, can bring this appointment a week ahead. Pricks that are planned for adults from August 16 can be taken earlier, announces corona minister Hugo de Jonge.

People with an appointment for the second shot will receive a text message from the GGD, after which they can call to bring the second vaccination forward. Young people already received such a text message last week. Until now, young people between the ages of twelve and seventeen have only been given Pfizer, while adults are also injected with Moderna. That is why it was easier to bring the appointments of young people forward.

06.30 – Number of hospital patients with Covid-19 increases in Curaçao

The number of patients with Covid-19 is increasing significantly in Curaçao. On July 26, two more people were hospitalized, one of whom was in intensive care. On August 1, it was about fifteen, three of whom on the IC.

Curaçao has seen a significant increase in the number of corona infections since last month. That has increased from 20 on July 1 to 616 on August 1, mainly due to the Delta variant.

For a long time, the increase in the number of infections, initially mainly among young people between the ages of 18 and 24, seemed to have hardly any consequences for the number of hospital admissions. But that has changed since last week. The hospital announced last week that the vast majority of people who are admitted have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated.

Curaçao has a reasonably successful vaccination program. More than 92,000 of the more than 160,000 residents have been pricked once. About 82,000 people have had two vaccinations.
