The majority of the Dutch support the government’s corona measures, but support has fallen. 65 percent is behind it, against a constant 75 percent in recent months. This is stated in a monthly survey by I&O Reserch among 2,231 Dutch people commissioned by the NOS.
The majority of those surveyed (66 percent) want a tougher approach to the corona crisis, up from 37 percent a month ago. Only 12 percent think that the approach should be looser, while last month more than a quarter (26 percent) of those surveyed thought so.
Mouth mask
Many Dutch people (65 percent) want the wearing of masks in public spaces to be made compulsory. A month ago, 36 percent of those surveyed thought so. There is no majority (41 percent) for making the mouth mask mandatory everywhere, but there is a significant increase in people who think this is compared to last month (15 percent).
The research also shows that 20 percent wear a mouth mask “always or usually”, against only 4 to 6 percent in the summer. More than 90 percent adhere to the 1.5 meter guideline, nine out of ten say they sneeze into their elbow or a handkerchief.
