LIVE | Nearly 1200 corona patients in hospitals, slight decrease in IC | Inland

The corona density in hospitals continues to increase. Hospitals will treat 1190 patients on Saturday because of infection with the corona virus. That is 51 more than on Friday.

The nursing wards are especially busy. There are 955 corona patients there on Saturday, 55 more than on Friday and 370 more than last week on Saturday. The number of corona patients in intensive care has decreased slightly in the past 24 hours, from 239 to 235. That is the first decrease in a week.

Due to the busyness in the corona wards, the hospitals started spreading patients almost three weeks ago. They are being moved to other parts of the country. In the past 24 hours, nineteen people have been moved to another region, including three people in intensive care. In the past three weeks, 236 people have already been transferred to other parts of the country. They mainly come from the Randstad, because the pressure is greatest in hospitals in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Leiden.

Ernst Kuipers of the National Network Acute Care sees that the pressure on hospitals continues to increase. “Patients are moved from the Randstad to hospitals all over the country.” 6504 new corona cases have been reported between Friday morning and Saturday morning. Kuipers warned on Saturday, during an online PvdA event, that the increasing numbers of daily infections still show that compliance with the corona rules really needs to be improved. According to him, that is also the only way to prevent the entire country from having to be locked again.

Full lockdown

Diederik Gommers, the chairman of the Dutch Association for Intensive Care, says in the AD that the further increase in the number of corona infections is reason to quickly go into a complete lockdown. “The measures have proven inadequate,” he told the newspaper. “The intention was to flatten the curve. That does not work yet. ” He says he is strongly in favor of “that we go into a lockdown as soon as possible. And then no intelligent lockdown or something like that, but a full one. Otherwise nothing will change. Hopefully we can get out soon. ”
