Activists from the LGBTI community kept with a living chain tonight the calm holding of a screening of the Sofia Pride Film Fest, BGNES reported.
The action was entitled “Let’s protect the culture” and is in response to calls on social networks by patriotic and nationalist organizations to sabotage the screening, reminds BNR.
There were numerous calls on social networks to protest against the event.
However, there was an increased police presence in the area and no tensions or incidents occurred.
A protest took place against the screening on the capital’s Shipka Street, where people called for protection of family values. An additional reason for their dissatisfaction was that the film was broadcast in the cinema yard of Botev’s house in Sofia, belonging to heirs like Hristo Botev.
